My Mission

WordPress has something called Bloganuary in January. It was designed to encourage posting every day of the month to varying questions. This is not my thing. However, one of the questions was, “What is my mission.”

That is worth answering, even if it is too late to be linked to the Bloganuary event (I assume).

I do this, along with my wife, in line through (1) teaching in a couple of seminaries in Asia, (2) overseeing a CPE training program for pastoral counselors and clinical chaplains, and (3) supporting missionary member care of missions personnel— both Asian and those serving in Asia.

As I have noted before, this mission does not fit nicely into the common understandings of what entails Christian missions. But that is okay— I am very open to accepting the label “Cross-cultural minister” rather than missionary. However, I am not all that big on ‘common understandings.’

However, a second question is what is the mission of this website. That is a more difficult one for me. I have multiple purposes for this website.

I placed the third item as third on purpose. While I certainly want to have influence/impact, I only want to do that as I achieve the first two purposes. So I am happy that I had over 26,000 hits in 2023— the most ever— and I hope to have more in 2024. I don’t, however, plan on doing anything different to achieve this goal.
